learning to love yourself

Selflove is an important thing in our life, isn't it? But do I really know what self or love is? I ask myself "who am I?" and no answer comes back. If I was my name or past, would it mean that just one thing in my past going different would cause
that  I wouldn't be here anymore?

Or would I still be here just inhabiting a slightly different body in a different place perhaps or with different clothes on?

I am the awarness of the self, not the self. This is the only possible explanation why I can reflect on my self, see the emotions and thoughts appear. I'm the observer not the observed. If I was merely the observed, how could I than see my thoughts and feelings being observed?

Therefore I am the awarness and there is no self in selflove.

Being kind to oneself means being kind to others. When you feel good, people around you feel better too. All the things you do for yourself: eating, drinking water, sleeping, washig your body and so on, all are an expression of "yes" to the universe that created your body out of millions of cells. All these actions are a "thank you" to the universe. If there is no real self, than how could taking care of yourself be selfish?
